Welcome to Solarus: We can help you move to a cleaner and cheaper way of living, working and travelling with renewable energy. My name is Emma, I am the Office Manager for Solarus Energy Ltd and although I am new to blog writing, I’m hoping to bring some informative and hopefully occasionally fun updates about the renewable energy sector and how we can help you! This first blog is just to introduce ourselves and what we offer.
We’re excited about renewable energy’s potential for improving our daily lives. Our skilled staff have years of experience in the renewable energy industry and are dedicated to designing and installing customised solutions that fit our clients specific requirements. Based in Greater Manchester but work all over the North West & beyond, we are MCS certified for Solar PV & Battery Storage and experts in EV charging solutions – both residential and commercial. You can find us on the MCS register here, search for Solarus Energy Ltd… https://mcscertified.com/find-an-installer
The importance of renewable energy solutions has become increasingly paramount as the global community seeks sustainable ways to address the pressing issue of climate change, and more locally, Greater Manchester’s target to be Carbon Neutral by 2030. Renewable energy sources like solar power offer a clean, inexhaustible, and increasingly cost-effective alternative to fossil fuels. Despite the city’s reputation for cloudy weather, Manchester receives ample daylight to make solar energy a viable option! Especially when paired with battery storage. Not that you need to have solar panels to have a battery storage system – but I will talk more about this below.
Solar PV – More than just panels…
Solar PV or solar photovoltaic, is a technology that converts sunlight directly into electricity. The panels are made up of many solar cells, that you often see on rooftops or in large fields. These cells are made of materials that have a special property: when the sun shines directly on them, they generate an electric current. This electricity can then be used to power homes, businesses, and electric vehicles. It’s a clean and renewable source of energy, meaning it doesn’t run out like oil or gas and it doesn’t produce harmful emissions.
Installing solar panels has many benefits. These include:
Cost savings on bills
Reliance on the grid
Reducing carbon Footprint
Improving EPC rating
Increasing home value – maybe not directly however if you had to choose between two houses and one had solar, the other didn’t. I expect you may edge towards the house with solar already installed!
Beyond Solar – Battery Storage
Battery storage – also known as Arbitrage, systems play a crucial role in the modern energy landscape. They allow you to store your energy either from your solar panels or simply buy from the grid off peak when the tariff is at its lowest, so that you can use it whenever you need.
They have several key benefits:
Energy independence/security
Renewable energy integration
Peak period cost savings
Reduced reliance of fossil fuel
The future is electric – EV charging
According to Ben Nelmes, Chief Executive of New Automotive – The UK car market is back up to pre-pandemic levels of sales, driven by growing electric and hybrid sales. Traditional petrol cars now account for fewer than 50% of new cars, and look likely to continue to fall.
In addition, the government has introduced a bill that means only electric vehicles will be sold from 2035 onwards. This is unlikely to affect the current buying cycle, but does mean you’ll have to make the transition to electric at some point in the future.
We have have been installing EV chargers at homes, businesses, carparks etc for many years now. We are OZEV approved so if there is a government grant available, we will be able to facilitate this for you. We have supplied and fitted many brands and pride ourselves in our knowledge.
Why choose Solarus?
To quote Frank Cottrell-Boyce (I always thought it was Tony Wilson until now!) “This is Manchester, we do things differently.” At Solarus, we recognise our regions untapped greener capabilities and are dedicated to unlocking them. We are not just installers of renewable energy solutions; we are building a community around sustainable energy, providing tailored solutions that empower residents and businesses to become active participants in the fight against climate change and advocates for a cleaner, greener future for us and our children.
